Our English speaking Adoption team has been set up to help re-home some of our dogs in the UK and other European countries as well as here in Spain!
The procedure for adopting one of the refuge dogs is quite simple:
Decide which animal you would like to adopt either via the Facebook GPAR Adopt a Dog page or if you're local in person by visiting our refuge in Rute by appointment. Remember to think about how suitable your home is for a pet.
Email or message, via the Face book page, the GPAR adoption team and advise them which animal you would like to rehome. It will then be reserved for you.
You will be asked to complete and return the pre-adoption questionnaire to check your suitability for an animal.
Once the pre-adoption form has been returned we will organise a home check visit. If all is well then you will receive an adoption contract between yourselves and GPAR detailing the responsibilities of both sides. You will need to provide proof of your identity, ID card, passport etc.
There is a an adoption fee to cover a proportion of veterinary fees incurred by the refuge on your new pet, for example for spaying, castration, vaccinations, microchipping and pet passports. This also allows the refuge to continue its work helping animals in distress.
Once the fee and contract have been received you will be able to either collect your new family pet or they can be sent to you via an authorised and professional animal transport company and your pet will be delivered by mutual agreement. We use a DEFRA registered and approved road transport direct from here to your door for UK adoptions and we can also organise transport to other parts of Spain and Europe.
Transport costs are in addition to the adoption fee and depend on the destination.
If you are local and want to visit the GPAR shelter to look at the animals available for adoption then you will need to call or email in advance to arrange an appointment
